Description

Learn about standard shipping containers and container shipping with our A container’s voyage online course.

A container’s voyage objectives:

Following this course, the student should:

  • understand what standard shipping containers are,
  • know the differences between the main types of containers and how to identify them using ISO codes,
  • be aware of key points related to containers and their transport,
  • be comfortable when exchanging with shippers, shipping lines, forwarders and other parties when working with shipping containers.

A container’s voyage training content:

In this online training, we will look at a standardized shipping container, more specifically a 45 feet High Cube one – and review its details and its fictive but realistic example journey from a shipper in China to a consignee in Portugal.

Using this container example as a background, we will notably discuss container types, container related ISO codes, container ownership, container securing and sealing, as well as go over some technical details and capacity data.

We will then focus on the shipping of this example container by taking a high-level look at its entire example voyage and its tracking, before diving into the details of each transport leg – providing logistics, transport, technical and trade compliance information for each step, such as the pre-carriage, the deep-sea transport, or the arrival at the port of destination step.

A knowledge check interactive part will also assist with the learning and give you the opportunity to validate the acquired knowledge.

The total run time of our container shipping eLearning is approximately 45 minutes.
User experience duration is expected to be around 70 minutes but may vary due to interactive parts and reflection time.

Further general information about our eLearnings can be found here and some of our used material can be viewed on our logistics blog logisticselearning.com.

To maximize the benefits of this online course – we recommend and suggest to our students to first take our Ocean freight online course.
